LSU football shut out Mississippi State 31-0 on Saturday in Baton Rouge. Sam Leavitt and the offense put the game out of reach by halftime. According to head coach Lane Kiffin, the quarterback dealt with a lingering injury throughout the contest.
"He really did it in practice," Kiffin said. "We knew he was still going to play, but, you know, that he'd be limited in what we did with him, and then he pushed himself early there and wasn't really able to run really well, and so you saw us limit that in what we were doing."
Leavitt completed 82% of his passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns. He tested his mobility early with a scramble on each of the first two possessions but largely remained in the pocket for the remainder of the game. He threw
touchdown passes of 27 and 17 yards.

"I thought he did a really good job of protecting the ball and was really clean throwing the ball and accurate and let his players make plays," Leavitt said.
