LSU football added a second conference win to its 5-2 record by defeating Mississippi State 31-0 on Saturday. During the home contest, the Tigers lost two more of their major playmakers to injuries. Head coach Lane Kiffin talked about the impact of losing Princewill Umanmielen and Jackson Harris.
"Both, you know, didn't return, which, again, like I said, not a lot of pity for injuries," Kiffin said.
The injuries continue to pile up on both sides, but the LSU defense is becoming decimated. Whit Weeks and DaShawn Spears are sidelined, but Umanmielen's injury has put more strain on the front seven for defensive coordinator Blake Baker's unit.
The status of the senior defensive end remains in limbo. He entered the medical tent during the first half,
then returned from halftime in street clothes.
"Another significant player in [Umanmielen] goes out early and wasn't able to return," Kiffin said. "Our doctors held him, which obviously is the right thing to do."
There are positive signs regarding Umnamielen, though. LSU linebacker TJ Dottery said Umnamielen said that he would be fine.
TJ Dottery says he was worried seeing friend Princewill Umanmielen exit the game, but encouraged that Umanmielen said he was fine.

As for Jackson Harris, he was seen on the sideline in a walking boot. With Trey'Dez Green already sidelined, LSU can't afford to lose another reliable pass catcher.
