LSU football fell two spots in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll despite sitting idle on a bye in Week 9. Lane Kiffin and the Tigers rank No. 15, after ranking No. 13 last week. LSU was jumped by Texas Tech and Wake Forest.
Don't read too much into LSU's fall. It's the natural shifting that usually occurs in the middle of the rankings. There just isn't much separating the middle of the pack.
However, there's reason to believe LSU is much better than its rating suggests. ESPN's SP+ power ratings slot LSU No. 4 in the nation, but without any signature wins, LSU's poll ranking reflects its resume.
LSU has a chance to earn a signature win this week. On Saturday, LSU will welcome the No. 9-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide to Death Valley. Both squads are 6-2,
and a win would go a long way towards earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.
According to FanDuel, LSU is a 4.5-point favorite over Kalen DeBoer's Alabama squad.
