A talented LSU football defender appears to have changed positions. Linebacker Jaiden Braker is working with the edge rushers and defensive ends, a change from his traditional inside linebacker role.
Braker joined LSU in 2025 as a high school recruit. He was the No. 128-ranked prospect in the class, per Rivals Industry Rankings. Braker was the No. 10 linebacker and No. 16-ranked player in the state of Georgia. Braker only played seven defensive snaps in 2025 -- all seven coming vs. SE Louisiana in garbage time.
Now, with LSU needing depth at defensive end and Braker buried on the depth chart at inside linebacker, a move to the edge made sense. Princewill Umanmielen and Jordan Ross are LSU's projected starters at defensive end, but outside of those
two, there are questions and opportunity. LSU's defensive end depth took a hit in the spring when Gabriel Reliford tore his ACL and was ruled out for the year.
At 6-foot-3, Braker has the length to rush off the edge. Across the sport, we've seen athletic linebackers shift inside to out to better impact the game.

The 6’3, 223-pound redshirt-freshman will look to carve out a role here if it sticks.

We'll see if it leads to more playing time for Braker in 2026, but at least LSU has added another talented edge at a position where depth was needed.
