The LSU Tigers have lost the commitment from three-star running back Brennen Lacey, who announced the news Thursday on social media.
I want to begin by thanking you and the entire coaching staff at LSU for believing in me and giving me the incredible opportunity to play football at the next level. I am truly grateful for the time, energy and relationship we have built throughout my recruitment process.
After a lot of thought, prayers, and deep conversations with my family, I have decided to withdraw my verbal commitment to LSU and reopen my recruitment.
Thank you again for your understanding, support, and for treating me like family. I wish you and the LSU Tiger the absolute best moving forward.
Lacey is from Frisco, Texas, and committed to LSU
on June 7. He is the No. 505 overall player and No. 33 running back in the 247Sports composite. The 5-foot-11.5, 190-pounder is also the No. 62 player from Texas.
LSU still has two running backs committed in its 2027 recruiting class in David Seggara and Trey Martin, who are both four-star prospects and ranked as the No. 6 and No. 13 running back in the country, respectively.
Lacey has been extremely efficient as a senior at Frisco High School. While he has just 38 carries in six games, he has rushed for 321 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 8.4 yards per carry.
LSU's recruiting class is ranked as the 11th best in the country and the sixth best in the SEC by 247Sports. They now have 16 commits overall, with 12 of them being rated as blue-chip prospects.
