LSU women's basketball missed on a top target in the 2027 recruiting class. GG Banks committed to South Carolina, according to a report from Rivals' Talia Goodman. She chose the Gamecocks over Texas and the Tigers.
Head coach Kim Mulkey and her staff hosted Banks during Week 1 of the college football season alongside two other blue-chip recruits. But the five-star combo guard decided to play for head coach Dawn Staley, who has led the Gamecocks to three national championships, 10 SEC regular-season titles and nine SEC Tournament titles.
Banks hails from Wilmington, Delaware, and stands 5-foot-9. Rivals' Industry Rankings list her as the No. 4 player in the country as well as the top player at her position and out of Delaware. While playing for
the United States in the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup, she averaged 13.8 points, 6.2 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Banks is the second elite player to choose an SEC rival over the Tigers, following small forward Madi Mignery, who chose Florida. LSU holds a commitment from the cycle's top center, Louisiana native Caroline Bradley, and remains in the mix for small forward Ivana Wilson-Manyack.
