The Alabama Crimson Tide have a blockbuster matchup on tap in Week 6 of the 2026 college football season. Coach Kalen DeBoer's team hosts Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs in a top-10 showdown at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
All eyes will be on Tuscaloosa this week when the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs square off for the fourth time in the past three years. In addition to a top-10 game in prime time and a visit from ESPN's "College GameDay," the SEC is also keeping watch of Tropical Storm Isaias.
Alabama (5-0, 3-0 SEC) is No. 6 in the AP Top 25 and No. 7 in the US LBM Coaches Poll after a 56-23 win over Mississippi State at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. Georgia (5-0, 3-0) is No. 2.
It's the fourth straight year the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs will meet on the gridiron
and the third regular-season matchup in as many years. It's also the fifth time Alabama and Georgia will meet since the 2023 SEC Championship Game. The Tide haven't lost to the Bulldogs in the regular season since 2007. Georgia won last year's SEC title game, 28-7, after dropping the regular-season contest, 24-21, in Athens.
Keelon Russell accounted for four touchdowns in Alabama's 33-point win at Mississippi State in Week 5. He threw three touchdown passes and completed 16 of 22 attempts for 285 yards. Russell ran for a 17-yard score on the first play of the second quarter for his fourth rushing touchdown of the year.
Cornerback Dijon Lee picked off a Kamario Taylor pass and returned it 30 yards for a score. It was Alabama's fourth interception return for a touchdown this season.
Georgia is coming off a 38-14 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores at Sanford Stadium. Gunner Stockton threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns on 25 of 32 passing. Chauncey Bowens and Jaden Reddell added touchdown runs in the Bulldogs' Week 5 victory.

Where Alabama football sits in ESPN SP+ rankings entering Week 6
Alabama is No. 6 in ESPN's SP+ team rankings, the same spot as last week.
The Crimson Tide have an overall rating of 26.7 (up from 23). Alabama is one spot below the Miami Hurricanes (27.2) and one spot ahead of the LSU Tigers (24.4) in ESPN's team rankings.
To break down Alabama's rating by units, SP+ gives the Crimson Tide a 43 rating on offense (No. 1 nationally, up six spots from last week) and a 16.3 rating on defense, which is No. 15 nationally and down two spots from before the win at Mississippi State. In special teams, Alabama is given a 0.0 rating, which ranks 70th nationally (up from 79th).
Georgia is No. 1 in the SP+ team rankings with an overall rating of 31.7, one spot ahead of the Ohio State Buckeyes. The metrics give the Bulldogs a 42.7 rating on offense that's No. 2 nationally, an 11.4 rating on defense that's best in the nation, and a 0.4 rating in special teams that is third-best nationally.
SEC football teams ranked by ESPN SP+ entering Week 6: Georgia, Alabama lead the way
Here is where Alabama and all 16 SEC teams rank in ESPN's SP+:

- 14. South Carolina Gamecocks (8.2, 50th nationally)
- 13. Kentucky Wildcats (8.9, 45th nationally)
- 12. Texas A&M Aggies (10.8, 39th nationally)

What are ESPN SP+ rankings?
According to Connelly, SP+ is "simply a measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football. If you're lucky or unimpressive in a win, your rating will probably fall. If you're strong and unlucky in a loss, it will probably rise."
"SP+ is not a résumé ranking, so it does not automatically give credit for big wins or particularly brave scheduling -- no good predictive system does," he adds.
