It was another big slate for former Alabama players in the NFL during Week 5, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
For example, four total players in the NFL had multiple interceptions this week. Two of those four were former Alabama players.
Before we get into our weekly list of the top five standouts, two other names worth mentioning are that of Derrick Henry and Germie Bernard. Henry also had a 100-yard rushing day in the Ravens overtime win over the Falcons on Sunday night and Bernard had a career-high 80 receiving yards for the Steelers in their 34-22 win over the Colts.
Here is a look at Alabama's five best performances of NFL Week 5.
Jahmyr Gibbs, Running Back - Detroit Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs remains right in the discussion for the top running back in the league. This week as
the Lions blew out the Cardinals, 45-21, Gibbs had a monster day with over 200 yards from scrimmage. He finished up with 25 carries, 151 rushing yards, five catches, 56 receiving yards, and two rushing touchdowns. The 151 rushing yards was the second-most in the league this week. For the season, Gibbs is fourth in the NFL in rushing yards and is tied for the most rushing touchdowns among running backs with Henry.
Will Anderson Jr., Defensive End - Houston Texans
Will Anderson Jr. helped propel the Texans to their first win of the season as they blew out the Titans, 26-3. Anderson finished the game with four tackles and three sacks. The Texans' defense held the Titans to three points and just 187 yards of offense for the game. Anderson was one-of-two players in the NFL this week with three sacks. Anderson now leads the league in sacks for the season with 7.5.
Jordan Battle, Safety - Cincinnati Bengals
Jordan Battle was one of those two former Alabama players with multiple interceptions this week as he hauled in two picks in the Bengals' 31-24 win over the Dolphins. Battle ended up with seven tackles and two interceptions this week. Battle is tied for the league-lead in picks for the season with three.
Xavier McKinney, Safety - Green Bay Packers
McKinney was the other former Tide player with multiple interceptions as the Packers blew out the Bears, 31-7. McKinney had a solo tackle to go along with his two picks. Both of McKinney's interceptions set up Packers' touchdowns on the ensuing drive. McKinney is also of the players tied with Battle for the league-lead in interceptions with three.
Will Reichard, Kicker - Minnesota Vikings
Will Reichard continued his stellar season on Sunday as one of the top kickers in the league. In Sunday's 23-13 Vikings win over the Saints, Reichard once again had a big impact on the Vikings win. He ended up going three-for-three on field goals with two makes from over 50 yards. He finished up with field goals from 55, 54, and 40 yards. Reichard is still perfect on field goals this season at 15-for-15, and has five makes from 50+. Richard is second in the NFL in made field goals this season.
