Announced by the organization, the Los Angeles Chargers have released former Crimson Tide standout JK Scott as part of Sunday's roster cuts. Scott was among the former Alabama players who were either waived or released this past weekend as NFL teams narrowed down their rosters.
The former Alabama punter has spent the past four seasons with Los Angeles as the Chargers' starter. Appearing in 68 games from 2022-25, Scott averaged 46.1 yards per punt across those four seasons, and has set a new career-high in the stat each of the last three years, headlined by an average of 47.9 over 17 games last fall.
Scott, a former fifth round pick from the 2018 NFL draft, is set to enter his ninth season in the league this fall. The former Alabama punter has
also seen time with the Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars during his career.
At Alabama from 2014-17, Scott was among college football's top punters during his time in Tuscaloosa, headlined by a stellar freshman season where he led the nation with an average of 48 yards per punt. Over his four seasons, Scott averaged 45.6 yards per punt, and won two national championships with the Crimson Tide in 2015 and 2017.
