A lengthy documentary series about former Alabama Crimson Tide coach and college football legend Nick Saban is coming to ESPN later this year. Here's what to know.
The documentary will be a six-part series, ESPN announced Thursday. The first episode will be released on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 5 p.m. CT. All six episodes will be televised on ESPN throughout the rest of October and early November and will be available to stream on the ESPN app.
A press release from ESPN stated:
Featuring hundreds of hours of never-before-seen footage and interviews with more than 70 voices, the series chronicles Saban’s career and legacy, including his championship runs at Alabama and LSU, his other coaching stops and the evolution of his famed "Process."

A trailer released
by ESPN features a plethora of familiar faces, including several former Alabama players: Heisman Trophy winners Derrick Henry and Bryce Young, as well as Jalen Hurts, A.J. McCarron, Tua Tagovailoa and others. Former Nick Saban assistants Kirby Smart and Lane Kiffin are also featured in the trailer.
Rival players and coaches who appeared in ESPN's one-minute teaser include former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow and three-time national champion coach Urban Meyer. NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, who played against Saban's Michigan State teams while at Purdue, is also featured.
In the promotional clip, Saban is heard saying: "I'm not saying it was never good enough... but it was never good enough."
In 17 seasons at Alabama, Saban led the Crimson Tide to six national championships, nine SEC titles, three appearances in the BCS national championship game, and eight straight appearances in the College Football Playoff, including nine overall.
Saban retired in January 2024. His record at Alabama was 206-29 across his 17 seasons.

"With my coaching days behind me, Miss Terry and I have been doing a lot of reflection and realized we were ready to tell our story," Saban said in a press release. "The team at Words + Pictures has encouraged me to really look back not just at my time at Alabama, but every stop along the way -- and not just reflect on what happened but consider the process which made it happen. I interacted with a lot of players and coaches along the way and I'm happy to see that so many of them have contributed to this docuseries. There's a lot to tell, and I'm excited to share it all.”
