Announced by the conference Monday afternoon, a trio of Alabama Crimson Tide defensive starters have received SEC player of the week honors.
After a big showing against Kentucky, Alabama's inside linebacker duo of Caleb Woodson and Luke Metz have split SEC co-defensive player of the week honors, while Devan Thompkins has been named co-defensive lineman of the week.
Against the Wildcats, Woodson and Metz were Alabama's top two tacklers with 12 and eight total, respectively. The former also posted two sacks and two TFL, while Metz had one of the game's biggest plays midway through the first quarter, a 34-yard pick six.
Thompkins also had two sacks and two TFL, similar to Woodson, while also finishing the game with six tackles. The Alabama defensive
lineman split co-defensive lineman of the week honors with Missouri's Daeden Hopkins.
Alabama will face Florida State in Week 3 inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC this Saturday.
