Alabama softball learned its 2027 regular season schedule on Wednesday, and as with every year in the SEC, the Crimson Tide's path in the conference race won't be an easy one.
Alabama's SEC schedule will again consist of eight teams, including two that joined the Crimson Tide in the Women's College World Series this past summer in Oklahoma City: the two-time defending national champion Texas Longhorns and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Coach Patrick Murphy team will open conference play against Texas A&M on March 19 at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa before visiting Austin the following week for its showdown against Texas.
Alabama and Texas met two different times on the diamond last season; the Crimson Tide took two of three in the regular-season
series at Rhoads Stadium before the Longhorns beat Alabama, 7-1, behind star pitcher Teagan Kavan in the championship game at the SEC Tournament in Lexington.
The Crimson Tide will also visit Mississippi State, which made a surprise run to the WCWS last season. Alabama is scheduled to visit Starkville April 9-11.
Perennial national title contender Oklahoma will get Alabama at its place, as well. The Tide will visit Norman to face coach Patty Gasso's Sooners May 6-8 in a Thursday through Saturday series.
In all, Alabama faces Texas A&M, Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida in Tuscaloosa. In addition to Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi State, the Crimson Tide will visit Georgia in Athens.
Each of the eight teams on Alabama's schedule made the NCAA Tournament last season. Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida and LSU reached a Super Regional. The Crimson Tide defeated LSU in two games to sweep the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
Alabama finished the 2026 season 56-9 overall and was 19-5 in conference play. The Crimson Tide advanced to the WCWS semifinals before falling to Texas Tech and ace NiJaree Canady in back-to-back games of a doubleheader, 5-4 and 1-0, on June 1.
Alabama was the No. 1 national seed in the NCAA Tournament and finished second in the SEC regular-season standings behind only Oklahoma.
Among others, the Crimson Tide return ace starter and SEC Pitcher of the Year Jocelyn Briski (24-4, 1.41 ERA), second-year starter Vic Moten (21-5, 1.80), and leading home run hitter Brooke Wells (.369/.496/.844, 24 HR, 68 RBI) in 2027.
