Alabama basketball tips off the 2026-27 regular season and Nate Oats' eighth season as head coach Tuesday. The Crimson Tide face the Sam Houston Bearkats from Conference USA at Coleman Coliseum.
Six players from Alabama's 2025-26 roster return this season, along with four players from the transfer portal, and five incoming freshmen. Aden Holloway and Amari Allen headline the players returning from Alabama's 2025-26 team. Holloway averaged 16.8 points per game last season while forward Allen averaged 11.4 points and seven rebounds.
Of the Tide's transfer portal additions, Alabama brought in a lot of size with 6-foot-10 forwards Brandon Garrison (Kentucky), Jamarion Davis-Fleming (Mississippi State) and 6-foot-11 center Drew Fielder (Boise State).
Fielder averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game last season. Alabama also plucked former NC State guard Cole Cloer, who redshirted last season. Four-star forward Jaxon Richardson headlines the Tide's freshman class.
Alabama is No. 18 in the preseason USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll. The Crimson Tide went 3-0 in their exhibition schedule, including wins over Auburn and Ole Miss. Here's how to watch Alabama-Sam Houston today.
