Former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Mike Locksley is no longer the head coach at Maryland, per the program Wednesday. According to the program, the Terrapins and Locksley mutually agreed to part ways.
Locksley had served as the head coach at Maryland dating back to the 2019 season. In his eighth season, Locksley posted a combined record of 39-54 while at Maryland dating back to 2015, with the Terrapins currently sitting at 2-5 overall (0-4 Big Ten) so far this fall.
A former offensive coordinator at Alabama, Locksley was in Tuscaloosa for three seasons from 2016-18. Locksley joined the Crimson Tide in 2016 as an offensive analyst before officially joining the staff in 2017 as co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, and was later
promoted to Alabama's offensive coordinator a year later in 2018.
Under Locksley, Alabama's offense ranked No. 3 nationally in 2018 with an average of 45.6 points per game. The Crimson Tide finished that season as the national runner-up at 14-1 overall (8-0 SEC), losing only in the CFP title game to Clemson.
Locksley was also the winner of the 2018 Broyles Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top assistant coach.
