The Alabama Crimson Tide begin SEC play on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington in Week 2 of the 2026 college football season Saturday. Alabama is ranked No. 12 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25. Kentucky is unranked.
The Crimson Tide (1-0) got off to a good start in their season opener. First-year starting quarterback Keelon Russell threw for 256 yards and rushed for another 86 in a 48-10 win over East Carolina at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama had 487 total yards, and the defense held East Carolina to 162.
Kentucky (1-0) also looked impressive in Will Stein's first game as coach. The Wildcats' have their own first-year starting quarterback in transfer Kenny Minchey. Kentucky totaled 506 yards of offense behind Minchey's
301 passing yards and four touchdowns. Transfer running back CJ Baxter had two touchdown runs.
Week 2 is the earliest in a season that Alabama has started SEC play since 2013. The Crimson Tide and Wildcats are meeting for the 43rd time in series history. Alabama leads the all-time series, 39-2-1, and has won eight straight against Kentucky. Saturday marks only the ninth meeting between the two SEC schools since 1998.

- ALABAMA 27, KENTUCKY 19: This should be a good first test for this Alabama team in SEC play. I'm always a little leery of road trips, especially these last few years, and there are a lot of unknowns with every team this early in a season and particularly one with a first-year coach and over 40 new additions to his roster.
