Keelon Russell and the Alabama Crimson Tide will face their toughest challenge to date in Week 6 of the 2026 college football season. Kalen DeBoer's team welcomes the Georgia Bulldogs to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa for another prime-time showdown Saturday.
Alabama (5-0 overall, 3-0 SEC) is No. 6 in this week's AP Top 25 and No. 7 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Georgia (5-0, 3-0) is No. 2.
The Crimson Tide have several people wondering if Alabama is back to the standards of Alabama teams of old following a emphatic 56-23 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a top-25 showdown in Starkville in Week 5.
Russell was electric again, throwing for 285 yards and three touchdowns while completing 16 of his 22 passes. He fired two touchdown passes to Rico
Scott and a 15-yard strike to Ryan Coleman-Williams on the Crimson Tide's first offensive series. Dijon Lee returned a Kamario Taylor interception 30 yards for the Tide's fourth pick six of the season and an early 14-0 lead.
Russell scored on a 17-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter. It was the former five-star recruit's fourth rushing TD of the year. Freshman running back Trae'shawn Brown added two touchdown runs, and the Crimson Tide outscored Mississippi State, 28-6, in the second half.
Alabama set a record for the most points scored on the road against a ranked opponent in program history with Week 5's win over the Bulldogs. The Tide have scored 45 or more points in each of their first five games.
Georgia is coming off a 38-14 win over Vanderbilt at Sanford Stadium in Week 5. Gunner Stockston threw three touchdowns as the Bulldogs cruised to another lopsided victory. Kirby Smart's team has won its five games -- against Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt by an average margin of victory of 38 points.
ESPN reveals TV commentators for Alabama football vs. Georgia in top-10 showdown
Ahead of Alabama-Georgia, ESPN announced who will have the call of Saturday's game in Tuscaloosa. Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will call the action from the broadcast booth at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Holly Rowe and Laura Rutledge will report from the sidelines.
It's the first Alabama game this season that Fowler and Herbstreit will be on the call for. The duo called five Crimson Tide games a season ago. Fowler and Herbstreit were on the call for Alabama's 24-21 victory over Georgia on Sept. 27, 2025 at Sanford Stadium in Athens, and the Crimson Tide's 28-21 win in the Iron Bowl against Auburn.
They called the SEC Championship game rematch between the Tide and Bulldogs, as well as Alabama's College Football Playoff games against the Oklahoma Sooners and Indiana Hoosiers.
Fowler and Herbstreit have been ABC and ESPN's No. 1 broadcast crew on college football games since 2014.
