The Alabama Crimson Tide have a number of prominent players who are currently dealing with injuries ahead of the program's Week 1 opener against East Carolina.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer recently updated the status of those players Monday afternoon during his media availability, starting with arguably the most notable update on NC State transfer wide receiver Noah Rogers.
“Noah’s had the chance to get on the field the last few days, and going back to the spring game, "A-Day", when the injury happened, the timeline that he was on and where we expected, he is much ahead of that, and that’s a tribute to his mindset, his positivity," DeBoer said. "From the time he was diagnosed, he was still up here, and just was not going to let it deter him
from continuing to move forward and make the most of every day he could, and he’s done that.”
“Our team just celebrated him being back out here and moving around. He’s not doing team drills or anything like that, but he’s making a progression, and he’s much ahead of schedule from what we originally thought.”
Rogers has been likely Alabama's biggest injury to monitor dating back to the spring when the wide receiver went down during the Crimson Tide's "A-Day" game. DeBoer had previously stated at SEC media days that he expects Rogers to miss some games early in the season.
The senior appeared in 26 games over the last two seasons at NC State, recording 68 receptions for 919 yards and three touchdowns.
In addition to Rogers, DeBoer also updated the status of both Lotzeir Brooks and EJ Crowell, while sharing that an Alabama defensive lineman recently suffered an injury in practice.
“Lottie is out there practicing, taking reps, close to full-go," DeBoer said. "He’s been doing that for a few days now. EJ is slowly progressing. I’m hopeful he’ll be ready to roll for the first game. Can’t say that definitively yet, but he was out there, working into it, and progressing here as we would have expected.”
“Jeremiah (Beaman) did get hurt yesterday. We have an idea of what the injury is. I would wait to comment on it until we get a further understanding, and that would probably be tomorrow.”
Brooks and Crowell have been limited at times during fall camp due to injury. Beaman missed a vast majority of last fall after suffering a season-ending injury in practice a year ago, appearing in only one game.
Alabama's first game will come at home Saturday, Sept. 5, against East Carolina. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
