According to Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, inside linebacker Cayden Jones is set to miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to an injury.
DeBoer revealed the news Monday afternoon during his weekly press conference while updating the injury status of a number of Alabama players. The junior had yet to appear in a game for the Crimson Tide this season, but has been a key player on special teams the last two seasons when on the field.
"Cayden will not be with us the rest of the season with an injury," DeBoer said.
Over the last two seasons, Jones saw action in 21 combined games with the Crimson Tide where he had 14 tackles. Jones was also among the Crimson Tide players who were competing for the two starting spots at inside linebacker during
fall camp, a competition won by Caleb Woodson and Luke Metz.
In addition to Jones, DeBoer also revealed Monday that Daniel Hill and EJ Crowell will be available in Week 4 against South Carolina, as will both running back AK Dear and wide receiver Noah Rogers. Two players expected to make a significant impact in 2026, both Dear and Rogers have yet to make their season debut following offseason injuries, but will be available it appears against the Gamecocks.
Alabama vs. South Carolina will kickoff this Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The game will be played inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
