Nate Oats and Alabama basketball have landed their first commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and it is a major one. Five-star combo guard Chase Lumpkin has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, announcing the news Wednesday on Instagram.
Lumpkin is their first commitment in the cycle and is one of their top targets. The Powder Springs, Georgia product officially visited Tuscaloosa over the weekend, allowing the Crimson Tide to seal the deal in his recruitment. He was also considering the USC Trojans, Michigan Wolverines, and Louisville Cardinals.
He is ranked as the No. 25 overall player and No. 6 combo guard in the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is also the No. 3 player from Georgia.
Lumpkin is seen as an ideal fit in Oats'
offense, due to his ability to attack the basket and willingness to shoot 3-pointers. He can also create for the players around him, with his size allowing him to play and defend multiple spots depending on the lineup.
