As NFL teams made their 53-man active roster decisions ahead of Sunday's deadline, several former Alabama football players found themselves among those who were cut.
The list of Crimson Tide players waived or released by NFL teams includes players who were 2026 draft picks that spent the last two years on coach Kalen DeBoer's roster to league veterans that were members of Nick Saban national championship teams
.Among some of the more familiar names, the Seattle Seahawks released cornerback Trevon Diggs late Sunday, the Chicago Bears released offensive lineman Jedrick Wills Jr., the Los Angeles Chargers cut longtime NFL punter JK Scott, and the New York Giants released offensive lineman Evan Neal. Some releases could be temporary, specifically
with regard to Scott and with Diggs.
All four players were members of Alabama national championship teams; Scott in 2015, Diggs and Wills in 2017, and Neal in 2020. Linebacker Drew Sanders and tight end Cameron Latu, also members of the Tide's 2020 national championship team, were waived by the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles, respectively.
Alabama had numerous late-round NFL draft picks and undrafted free agents that were cut as part of Sunday's moves. Those players include cornerback Domani Jackson, a sixth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers. Defensive tackle Tim Keenan III and running back Jam Miller, seventh-round picks by the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots, respectively, were likewise waived.
Among undrafted free agents, linebackers Deontae Lawson (Eagles) and Nikhai Hill-Green (Rams), and offensive linemen Jaeden Roberts (Falcons), Kam Dewberry (Falcons) and Geno VanDeMark (Colts) were waived.
