Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams might miss a little more time than expected with his hamstring injury.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Williams suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury, which doctors believe is a 3-4 week injury, meaning he could miss not just Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles by the following two or three games.
Chicago's next four games include the Eagles in Week 3, New York Jets in Week 4, Green Bay Packers in Week 5 and Atlanta Falcons in Week 6.
Monday night's game will be the first that Williams misses in his three-year career, where he played every game in 2024 and 2025. But Williams has always been a tough guy, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him eclipse the doctors'
timeline of 3-4 weeks.
"This guy's a little bit different than the average human being," said head coach Ben Johnson. "… I'm not putting a timeline on this. We're saying he's week-to-week. He's going to attack this."
With Williams sidelined, it will be backup quarterback Tyson Bagent getting the start. It's uncertain whether Bagent will suit up for Monday night against Philadelphia as he needs to fully clear concussion protocol. Still, Chicago seems confident in going with QB3 Case Keenum should they need to.
