The Minnesota Vikings have suffered a big loss ahead of their Week 2 matchup at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Vikings running back Jordan Mason has been placed on short-term injured reserve due to a small fracture in his thumb. He will be out of action for at least four weeks but is expected back in relatively short order.
Mason was the team's leading rusher in the Week 1 victory over the Green Bay Packers, totaling 59 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries, three more than veteran running mate, Aaron Jones.
In a corresponding move, the Vikings added DeeJay Dallas to their roster, giving some more depth in the backfield to an offense that is struggling with multiple injuries.
On top of the injury
to Mason, Minnesota has starting quarterback Kyler Murray in concussion protocol after he was injured early in the team's Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers. Murray's condition is unknown as of now, but the team said he is progressing through the week, although he will need full clearance before he returns to the field.
