The Chicago Bears defense has been sensational in their last three games after a rough Week 1 showing. But they didn't see the field much in the team's 23-12 win over the New York Jets, where Chicago dominated time of possession and gave the defense a nice rest in Week 4.
Linebacker Devin Bush has been in the NFL since 2019, but he has probably never played in an NFL game when his offense possessed the ball for over 42 minutes. When asked about the dramatic difference in time of possession in the Bears' win over the Jets, Bush had the perfect answer.
"It's fun, man. We've got to get ourselves in more situations like that so we can get the ball back as much as possible,” Bush said. “Holding the ball for 42 minutes is kind of wild, probably one
of the easiest NFL games I've played in. I'm not sore at all, so it's great."
Bush received a game ball after his performance in this game, which included four total tackles, two solo tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss. He also had a quarterback hit. In just his first season with the Bears, Bush has become one of Chicago’s top defensive stars and has played 95 percent of the defensive snaps so far.
Next Sunday will be Chicago’s first game against the Green Bay Packers this season. In his career, Bush has only played against the Packers twice, and he has a sack, a forced fumble and two quarterback hits in those games. Green Bay is not as good as last year, as their run offense is the worst in the league and their run defense has also struggled, which gives the Bears an opportunity to get an early win over their hated rivals.
