Ben Johnson may not be a doctor, but he seems to believe Luther Burden is ready to go.
The Chicago Bears head coach met the media fresh off their 24-15 preseason finale victory over the Tennessee Titans and was asked about Burden's groin injury that has kept the wide receiver sidelined for the last few weeks. "He looks 100% to me," Johnson said on Saturday night.
Burden went down with a groin injury earlier in the month when he got tangled up with cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. His prognosis initially was that he would miss the preseason with hopes he would be back for the regular season. Johnson's comments, coupled with the footage and reports of Burden running routes before earlier this week, points to the second-year playmaker being all systems
go for the Bears' Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
As a rookie, Burden caught 47 passes for 662 yards and two touchdowns. He's expected to have a much bigger role this year with quarterback Caleb Williams, and getting him out on the field to start the season will be a big boost for the entire offense.
