The Chicago Bears have received plenty of hype and praise for their offensive unit coming into the 2026 season, the third year for quarterback Caleb Williams and his second being paired with head coach Ben Johnson.
The team showed their focus on youth investment this offseason when they traded veteran DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, handing the keys to the offense to Rome Odunze, Luther Burden, and tight end Colston Loveland. Those three pieces, along with their rising quarterback and veteran running back D'Andre Swift are all grouped as the core to Chicago's success in 2026, and there are some who believe that the Bears offense could make history.
Recently, CBS Sports released their bold predictions for the 2026 season, and they believe that Chicago
has the makings to set a new standard for offense, with a 4,000-yard passer, 1,000-yard rusher, and three 1,000-yard receivers.
Here's what CBS Sports predicted for the Bears offense:
Ben Johnson already said he wants to break the 2013 Broncos NFL record for points per game in a season (37.9). The top 14 scoring teams in the Super Bowl era did not win a Super Bowl, though, so I'll do Johnson one better. The Bears will be the first team in NFL history with a 4,000-yard passer (they've never had one!), a 1,000-yard rusher (D'Andre Swift) and a trio of 1,000-yard receivers (Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland).
Last season, it was Loveland, a rookie, who led the team in receiving yards with 713, while Odunze and Burden both finished with over 600 yards. D'Andre Swift surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for just the second time in his career, and quarterback Caleb Williams set a new franchise record for single season passing yards, but just fell short of the 4,000-yard passing mark.
Johnson has made his goals clear for his offense in this upcoming season -- as he wants to have the highest-scoring offense ever -- and if these players could reach the individual milestones, the Bears may have a record setting offensive unit this year.
