The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a prime-time game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, and there's some encouraging news about the status of backup quarterback Tyson Bagent heading into the weekend.
Bears offensive coordinator Press Taylor told reporters on Friday that Bagent was back in the building at Halas Hall, which could be good news for his availability for Week 3. We'll have to see whether Bagent is at practice this afternoon and what it says on the injury report.
With starter Caleb Williams suffering a hamstring injury in last Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the expectation was that Bagent would make his first starter under head coach Ben Johnson in Williams' absence. But Bagent suffered a concussion at the end
of the game that put his status in jeopardy.
Bagent was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report, which reflected Wednesday's practice, so we'll see where the former undrafted free agent lands on Friday's report. It certainly helps that the Bears play on a Monday night, which gives Bagent time to recover and return to practice to prepare.
If Bagent can't go, it would be third-string quarterback Case Keenum getting the start against the Eagles.
Stay tuned for updates.
