The Week 2 matchup between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings is one made for the joy of football fans, as it will pit Bears head coach Ben Johnson against Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores in what's expected to be a thrilling chess match.
Both Johnson and Flores are highly-respected for their excellence on their respective side of the ball, and Chicago's lead man knows the challenge that stands across from him.
When meeting with the media on Wednesday, Johnson was asked about the preparation he goes through in coaching against Flores multiple times a season, and said he tries to avoid being in a path that leads him to overthinking.
"Yes there is that overthinking," Johnson said. "I'm in that path right now" he added with a chuckle.
Johnson has had plenty of experience going up against Flores, even dating back to his time with the Detroit Lions, as Flores has been the defensive coordinator for the Vikings since the 2023 season. Last year, both games between these two teams ended in a combined 5-point difference, with each team pulling off one win a piece, which should bring lofty expectations to the coaching staffs and how they plan for this matchup on Sunday.
