The NFL concluded Week 6 with a big win for the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football against the Washington Commanders. It ended another week where “expect the unexpected” was accurate.
Whether it was injuries or just teams having a game plan, everybody has a chance to win on any given week. Some of the results from this week reflect how much parity exists within the game.
It’s a hard league to rank, especially now with byes playing a role as some teams were idle. This is how it lines up, however, heading into Week 7:
The Contenders
1. San Francisco 49ers (Last Week: 1)
2. Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 2)
3. Buffalo Bills (Last Week: 4)
4. Baltimore Ravens (Last Week: 7)
5. Minnesota Vikings (Last Week: 3)
6. Chicago Bears (Last Week: 10)
7. Green Bay Packers
(Last Week: 15)
8. Denver Broncos (Last Week: 8)
9. Jacksonville Jaguars (Last Week: 6)
10. Seattle Seahawks (Last Week: 5)
11. Detroit Lions (Last Week: 11)
12. New England Patriots (Last Week: 12)
13. Cleveland Browns (Last Week: 16)
The Cleveland Browns have made their way into this tier for the first time in a long time. At 4-2, they had to prove it for a little bit longer than others based on history, but they have made it. The biggest problem for them is that they play in one of the toughest divisions that the NFL has to offer.
The entire NFC North division is here. The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings were on a bye, which didn't help their cause, but the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers each had impressive performances to boot. For the Bears, they are an elite-looking team when Caleb Williams is under center.
There were some stumbles for teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars, but that doesn't completely tank their stock. Everybody loses in the NFL sometimes.
The best team in the NFL right now is the San Francisco 49ers. Every week, they do what they must to find ways to win no matter how many injuries that they deal with. Will they have another Super Bowl matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs?
Teams To Watch
14. Cincinnati Bengals (Last Week: 17)
15. Carolina Panthers (Last Week: 18)
16. Pittsburgh Steelers (Last Week: 20)
17. Las Vegas Raiders (Last Week: 9)
18. Atlanta Falcons (Last Week: 19)
19. Los Angeles Rams (Last Week: 14)
The Los Angeles Rams came in as the undisputed favorite to win the Super Bowl. Now they are 2-4. Life comes at you fast. It's a disaster for them, and they are barely hanging on to this tier after starting the year at the very top.
There is some AFC North flavor in here with the Bengals and Steelers. They are all good, as are the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens above, but are any of them Super Bowl good?
The Las Vegas Raiders got off to a great start, but have come back down to earth a bit. Maybe their previous ranking was too kind, because they did come into 2026 with lowly aspirations. As for the Atlanta Falcons, their offense being as strong as it is keeps them afloat in these power rankings. However, if the losses continue to pile up, they won't last long in this tier.
More To Prove
20. Arizona Cardinals (Last Week: 27)
21. New York Giants (Last Week: 13)
22. Philadelphia Eagles (Last Week: 21)
23. Indianapolis Colts (Last Week: 22)
24. Dallas Cowboys (Last Week: 23)
25. New York Jets (Last Week: 24)
26. Houston Texans (Last Week: 28)
27. New Orleans Saints (Last Week: 25)
28. Washington Commanders (Last Week: 26)
29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Last Week: 29)
30. Tennessee Titans (Last Week: 31)
31. Los Angeles Chargers (Last Week: 30)
32. Miami Dolphins (Last Week: 32)
It's official: the entire NFC East is in this tier. The entire division is winless over the last two weeks, including a game in which two of them played each other. The New York Giants lead it with a 3-2-1 record, so they have to be the favorite right now, but their quarterback is out for the year. So is Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, so can the Dallas Cowboys step up and win the division? You'd think, but they were just blown out by the Packers on Sunday Night Football. The Commanders are closer to firing their coach than making the playoffs.
The Arizona Cardinals get to the top of the tier with a big win over the Rams, but is it more bad Rams or good Cardinals? The coming weeks will certainly reveal that.
The Tennessee Titans earned their first win, but it was over the Colts, who just fired their General Manager. Don't be surprised if they fall way off in the coming weeks, too. As for the Los Angeles Chargers, their winless start continues, dropping them into the bottom two with the Miami Dolphins.
