Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson prides himself on creating a roster with an explosive offense and that is precisely what he has done with the Bears since arriving in 2025, between the talent they have at the wide receiver, running back and tight end positions.
It is difficult to think of an NFL team with a deeper tight end room than the Bears who had Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet and rookie Sam Roush, who is expected to be active in the passing game. At running back, Chicago has D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. Monangai’s status for the season opener is questionable, but Roschon Johnson is able to step in if necessary.
The Bears also have an elite group of receivers between Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, rookie Zavion Thomas and even under-the-radar
players like Kalif Raymond and Jahdae Walker, who made the roster last season as an undrafted rookie. Offensive coordinator Press Taylor believes all of Chicago’s skill positions can challenge any defense in the NFL.
“The variety across our WR, TE and RB rooms is a challenge for anybody,” Taylor said. “Everyone can do a bit of everything, even Kalif outside the numbers gives a different look than Rome or Luther. That versatility lets us play on our terms, avoid tendencies and excel at self-scouting.”
Chicago’s versatility should be on full display in their season opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13. The Bears have not lost to the Panthers since October of 2014, and only have three losses against Carolina in their all-time history going against each other.
