The Chicago Bears added a massive weapon to their defense in a trade for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, sending two first-round picks to the Tennessee Titans for one of the NFL's best defensive players.
Simmons will practice for the first time with his new team on Friday, which means he'll be donning a new jersey number. During his time with the Titans, Simmons wore No. 98. But with his college teammate Montez Sweat already wearing No. 98 in Chicago, Simmons will have a new number.
The Bears social media account shared that Simmons will wear No. 99 in Chicago, which is the third different number he's worn since college (when he donned No. 94 at Mississippi State).

The Bears landed a game-wrecker
in Simmons, who's been one of the league's best interior defenders and is in the prime of his career at age 29. In the last two seasons, Simmons has totaled 15 sacks, including a career-high 11 in 2025 and currently has four this season. Simmons is a three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler and has totaled 44.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 30 pass deflections.
