The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a pivotal Week 5 NFC North showdown against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. But they'll once again be without starting quarterback Caleb Williams, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson announced that backup Tyson Bagent will once again get the start as Chicago travels to Green Bay looking to extend their winning streak to three games, as well as their third straight win over the Packers. Case Keenum, who got the starting nod in Week 3, will serve as the backup quarterback.
Williams suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of a Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and he'll now miss his third straight game. According to Johnson, Williams remains "week-to-week"
as he continues to rehab with the hopes of returning soon.
"He's doing a great job attacking his rehab," Johnson said. "He's not going to be there this week for us. But we think it's still a week-to-week deal for us."
Even with their star quarterback sidelined, the Bears offense hasn't missed a beat with Bagent and Keenum under center in respective games. It's a testament to Ben Johnson and his offense, as well as the supporting cast in the offensive line, skill players and the quarterback room as a whole. Still, the sooner Chicago can get Williams back, the better they will be.
