In their Week 3 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chicago Bears were led by 38-year old, third-string quarterback Case Keenum, who made his first start in 1,009 days, and played a key role in the 27-7 win.
The play by Keenum was not only a great story for him in his career but also a showcasing of head coach Ben Johnson who received plenty of praise for the game he called against the Eagles when his team was overlooked by many coming into it.
Following the victory, CBS Sports analysts Kyle Long and Russell Wilson, two former NFL players themselves, had plenty of praise for the Chicago Bears head coach.
"I thought he (Keenum) played so clear, he hadn't played in a game like that in a while," Wilson said. "What it really shows is Ben Johnson's
ability to get the ball to the right players at the right time."
Kyle Long added that the game plan didn't change for Chicago despite the quarterback change.
"What stood out to me was the game plan didn't change at all. It was, we're going to run the ball effectively and protect our quarterback. The difference was that Case Keenum got rid of the ball quickly and an offensive line, we say that's something we can win with. When Case Keenum is just pressing the buttons and doing that Ben Johnson wants, it's amazing how the offense can look different, but great."
Ben Johnson may have had a signature win in his young head coaching tenure for the second straight season over the Eagles in Week 3, and now he'll look to build on that while the team continues to work without starter Caleb Williams.
