The Chicago Bears made a blockbuster trade for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons on Thursday, and just one day later, he made his debut on the practice field at Halas Hall sporting a new jersey number.
Chicago acquired Simmons for two first-round picks, as well as a Day 3 pick swap (fourth rounder for a fifth rounder) to land arguably the best defensive tackle in the NFL. He's a three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl selection who's totaled 44.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 30 pass deflections in his career. According to Next Gen Stats, Simmons has generated 28 pressures this season, the most among defensive tackle, including 10 pressures and three sacks when double-teamed (both an NFL-best).

It's unknown whether Simmons will make his Bears debut this Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks, but the expectation is that he will see some action, as general manager Ryan Poles and defensive coordinator Dennis Allen indicated on Friday.
"The more he can digest the more opportunities there will be for him to be on the field," Allen said. "This will be a work in progress."
Simmons will face off against a familiar face in former Indianapolis Colts and recently-traded Seattle Seahawks guard Quenton Nelson, who he played twice a year during his time with the Titans.
