What is the story about?

The Chicago Bears are releasing former third-round offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

Amegadjie was selected by the Bears in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Yale. Billed as a developmental pick, Amegadjie was inactive much of his rookie season but made one start late in the year on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. His debut didn't go as planned, and Amegadjie never made another start.

Last season, Amegadjie battled for one of the final roster spots, and though he made the team, he didn't play a snap all year long while battling injuries. He was in the left tackle mix entering training camp along with Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet, and Jedrick Wills but wasn't able to capitalize

on the opportunity. Wills was also waived earlier in the day. Amegadjie is the latest Bears third-round pick to be waived before the end of his rookie contract, joining Velus Jones Jr. and Zacch Pickens from the last couple of seasons.
