The Chicago Bears
are coming off a dominant offensive performance in a 23-12 win over the New York Jets, where the score did not indicate just how strong of a showing they had on the field. One of the Bears biggest strengths has been their running game, having two of their four games where they reached over 230 rushing yards, and the ground game also has been one of Green Bay's biggest weaknesses on defense.Chicago is looking for their third consecutive win over Green Bay, which has seen the momentum completely move in their favor, and they'll lean on their offense to do so. Even with Caleb Williams out and Tyson Bagent in as the starting quarterback, the Bears should have plenty of offensive advantages for a poor Packers defense that just lost
linebacker Edgerrin Cooper for the season with an Achilles injury.
Here are the top offensive keys for the Bears in Week 5:
Continue to dominate the ground game
No matter who is in at quarterback, Chicago thrives as an offensive unit when they establish the run game as early as possible. The Bears showed that they can hand the ball off to either D'Andre Swift or Kyle Monangai, and there is no step back in the operation. Green Bay gives up nearly 140 yards per game on the ground, and Chicago should be able to carry their momentum from last week into this matchup.
Let Tyson Bagent free
The Bears have full confidence and belief in Tyson Bagent as their primary backup, and while Caleb Williams is out, their starter. Case Keenum's performance in the win over the Eagles in Week 3 was a great story, but if head coach Ben Johnson fully believes in Bagent, it's time to let him run the offense freely. Bagent didn't play bad by any stretch last week, but it was clear that Chicago had plenty of investment in the run game, and leaned into that. With Bagent at quarterback, the Bears should have a heavy dose of both the run and pass game.
Keep mixing up the primary option
In the first four games of the season, the Bears have had a different play shine as the star on the offense, including veteran Kalif Raymond who was the leading receiver twice. Chicago continues to be a matchup nightmare with the variety and depth of weapons they have on offense, and in order to keep defenses on their toes, there should be a new focus point this Sunday. The beauty of the Bears offense is on any given day, there can be a superstar on the field for them, or it can be a mix of three different players all having highly productive games.
