Sunday's start for Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent was a rough one against the Green Bay Packers, and it's one that fans haven't seen for quite some time. Bagent got the start against the Packers with Caleb Williams still on the mend from his hamstring injury and proceeded to have an abysmal outing during the 31-7 loss.
The backup Bears quarterback completed just 12 of 21 passes for 87 yards and threw two interceptions before he was benched in favor of Case Keenum. Bagent missed throws, struggled to go through his reads, and put the ball in harm's way more often than not while leading just one scoring drive. It was a bad performance all around, but it was the worst we have seen in nearly 15 years based on one category.
Using data via Stathead,
Bagent's 27.4 passer rating was the lowest by a starting Bears quarterback that didn't exit due to injury since Caleb Hanie's 23.8 rating during Week 13 of the 2011 season. That was in a 10-3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Hanie completed 11 of 24 passes for 133 yards and threw three interceptions. He also got sacked seven times.
Tyson Bagent's 27.4 passer rating on Sunday was the worst for a starting Bears quarterback since CALEB HANIE in 2011 when he 11/24 for 133 yards and 3 INTs against Kansas City. (23.8)

If you thought you were watching one of the worst days by a Bears quarterback in years, you were right. The only solace Bagent can take is that he was pulled before things got worse, and he avoided having the games that players like Rex Grossman had with ratings in the single digits.
It's just another indicator of how poorly Sunday went for Bagent and the Bears. Hopefully with Williams targeting a return to the field, we won't have to see him for a long time.
