There's been plenty of frustration surrounding the status of Chicago Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon, who's been sidelined for the entirety of training camp and preseason with a calf injury that landed landed him on the physically unable to perform list to start the regular season.
Gordon has been injury prone since he was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he's yet to play an entire season in four years. Which is a shame considering he's among the NFL's best nickel cornerbacks when healthy.
With Gordon landing on the PUP list, he'll miss at least the first four games of the 2026 season, and he's eligible to return in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers. But there are questions about it Gordon will even play this season. On
Tuesday, general manager Ryan Poles sounded uncertain about Gordon's availability this season.
"I don’t know. I would hope so. I still have hope there," Poles said. "He’s going to have to continue to work hard and get back to playing football again. … Any time you have an injury and you’re coming back from something, there’s discomfort that you have to push through. And that’s what it comes down to. We haven’t been able to get over that hump and we’re not progressing as fast as we’d like. That’s really all I have to say about it."
One day later, a video showing Gordon training with NFL rehab specialist, the Foot Doctor, who's also worked with Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson, defensive back Cam Lewis and running back D'Andre Swift.
CB Kyler Gordon, 1 day after GM Ryan Poles said he wasn’t sure if Gordon would play again for the Bears, was seen training and moving well with NFL rehab specialist Foot Doctor Moe. 🤔

With Gordon sidelined, it sounds like it'll come down to rookie Malik Muhammad, veteran Cam Lewis and newcomer Clark Phillips III at nickel. But the hope remains that Gordon can get healthy and back on the field, as it's been proven that the Bears defense has been better when he's out there.
