The Chicago Bears
activated second-year defensive lineman Shemar Turner to the 53-man roster, and his return couldn't come at a better time. On Tuesday, the Bears activated Turner off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) for their Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The moves came shortly after defensive end Montez Sweat was suspended by the league two games for performance-enhancing substances. The Bears activated DE Shemar Turner off the PUP list. He will take Montez Sweat's spot on the 53-man roster. Sweat is suspended for the next 2 games and eligible to return on day after the Bears play the Patriots in Week 7.

Turner's 21-day practice window closes tomorrow. If…
Turner, a 2025 second-round pick out of Texas A&M, suffered a torn
ACL during his rookie season last October and has been out ever since. He was placed on the PUP list in July and missed all of training camp. The Bears designated Turner to return to practice following their Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and he has strung together full practice sessions.
With Wednesday being the deadline to add Turner to the active roster, the Bears needed to make a decision. Otherwise, he would revert back to injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
In five career games, Turner has six tackles, including two for a loss. His return comes at an ideal time with Sweat's suspension and uncertainty surrounding Dayo Odeyingbo after he left Sunday's 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers with a quad injury.
