Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has brought new life and energy to the organization, which has revamped the mindset of one key veteran player, including cornerback Jaylon Johnson.
Jaylon Johnson, who is looking to have a bounce back season this year, will be key to leading this Bears defense to a turnaround that can help make them a true contender in the NFC.
Leading into Week 1, both Johnson and his head coach had a conversation in which the player was credited for showing a renewed fire within, and the veteran credited his coach for bringing that out of him. Recently, Johnson shared how his head coach's comments about reaching a Super Bowl got him fired up for the year.
"Honestly, we had a talk and I would say of my years being here, I've
never had a talk of a coach saying we have a chance to win a Super Bowl," Johnson said. "When he said that, it put some things in perspective for me. We have the opportunity to do something special, and for me that sparked a different level of competitive nature that I haven't had since I been here. They're just holding us to a higher standard."
The confidence from head coach Ben Johnson is apparent, and now getting his players to buy into that belief of how far they can go, while getting them to play above expectations is the next step. Chicago will have to put in the work to build off their 11-win season from last year, but it's clear their head coach believes they can do far greater things than what was achieved last season.
