Chicago Bears players are descending upon Halas Hall over the next few days for the start of training camp, and we already have multiple individuals who won't practice right away—including linebacker TJ Edwards. But it sounds like he won't be out for too long.
On Saturday, the Bears placed five players on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and placed Edwards on the non-football injury (NFI) list. But according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Edwards' injury isn't considered a serious one. The veteran linebacker reportedly is dealing with a minor muscle strain and shouldn't be sidelined for too long.
TJ Edwards' stay on NFI should be short, as he's dealing with a minor muscle strain. https://t.co/DxL2H4lQBC

Edwards, who signed a contract extension
last offseason, suffered a broken fibula during the Bears' wild card game against the Green Bay Packers. He was practicing during mini camp, a positive sign that he would be ready for camp. Edwards being placed on the NFI list indicates this is a separate injury that was suffered away from the practice facility. Hopefully he and the other injured Bears can get back on the field sooner rather than later as the team preps for the start of the regular season.
