The Chicago Bears are making some changes to their initial 53-man roster, general manager Ryan Poles announced on Tuesday.
The Bears are placing safety Coby Bryant and tight end Hayden Large on injured reserve and re-signing defensive tackle James Lynch and linebacker Jack Sanborn to the active roster in corresponding moves. With Bryant and Large on IR, they'll have to miss at least the first four games, although Bryant is expected to miss four to six months.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Shemar Turner (knee) and linebacker Noah Sewell (Achilles) are close to returning from the physically unable to perform list. There is no timetable for cornerback Kyler Gordon's return, as he continues to nurse a calf injury that kept him out all summer.
Poles also
noted that he's unsure if defensive end Austin Booker, who's missed time with an injury, will be ready for Week 1. He said they will get through this week and reevaluate.
