With the preseason in the books, the Chicago Bears are now focused on finalizing their initial 53-man roster ahead of their regular-season opener against the Carolina Panthers.
Chicago started the weekend with 88 players on the active roster, and they have until 5 p.m. CT on August. 30 to trim the roster down to 53 players. That means making 35 cuts or corresponding roster moves just shortly after their preseason finale.

All 32 NFL teams will have
to trim their roster down to 53 players by Sunday, Aug. 30, at 5 p.m. CT.
Where are the Bears in the waiver order?
The initial waiver order from now through Week 3 is the same as the original 2026 NFL Draft order before trades. With that in mind, the Bears are 25th in the waiver order.
