The Chicago Bears are gearing up for a Week 6 battle against the Atlanta Falcons, and there's optimism that quarterback Caleb Williams will be back in the starting lineup following a rough Week 5 loss with Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum at the helm.
Williams suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury in a Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, where the expectation is he would miss 3-4 weeks. Heading into Week 6, Williams has surpassed the three-week mark.
Williams returned to practice last Friday, in limited fashion, and he was questionable for Week 5 vs. the Packers. But Williams was inactive for the game, which was expected, with reports indicating he was poised to return in Week 6 vs. the Falcons.
We'll be keeping track of the latest updates surrounding
Williams' availability for Sunday's game against the Falcons. Stay tuned.
Latest Caleb Williams injury update
Williams has missed the last three games with a Grade 2 hamstring injury, which tracks with the 3-4 week timetable. Williams is still considered week-to-week with his hamstring injury, but he did return to practice last Friday and participated in limited fashion. Following Week 5, head coach Ben Johnson said that Williams is """He's on track," "on track" and that he could return vs. the Falcons or after. "I think it's going to be close."
Will Caleb Williams start vs. Falcons in Week 6?
There's optimism that Williams will return for Week 6 against the Falcons, but nothing is confirmed. The fact that Williams returned to practice last Friday, as a limited participant, and participated in a strenuous pre-game workout before Sunday's game against the Packers bodes well for his availability. But Thursday's injury report (Wednesday is a walkthrough) should be a good indicator of his potential return this week ahead of a short week Week 7 game against the New England Patriots.
