The Chicago Bears will have to monitor a significant development in their early season matchup against their bitter rival, the Green Bay Packers.
The NFL has placed Packers running back Josh Jacobs on the commissioner's exempt list for being charged with battery and criminal damage to property, both of which are misdemeanors. Jacobs was originally arrested in May and faced five charges, but a Wisconsin district attorney officially charged him with the two misdemeanors last week.
It is a potentially significant blow for the Packers offense, while everyone awaits word on if the star running back will be suspended and for how long, if he is indeed suspended by the league. A statement was made by members of Jacobs' team, saying that he respects the NFL's
process and expressed excitement to return his team when the time comes.
This is significant for Chicago as their first matchup of the season against Green Bay will come in Week 5, and there's plenty of reason to wonder if Jacobs will be back on the field by then. It is another big loss for the Packers to start the season, as they're expected to be without superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, who is recovering from a torn ACL.
