The Chicago Bears are the only team this season to have three different quarterbacks win a game after the Bears defeated the New York Jets with Tyson Bagent at quarterback. It was not the best day for Bagent, but he did enough for Chicago to win the game.
Bagent finished the game with 268 passing yards, no touchdowns and an interception. However, after the game, he said that he felt there were “some opportunities for some big plays down the field that I didn’t pull the trigger on” even though he had a 37-yard pass to Rome Odunze and a 22-yard pass to Luther Burden III.
“There’s a handful of them,” Bagent said. “When the moments present themselves, I obviously have got to take it. I was a little quick to get down to the checkdown, but that can’t
be the case going forward. I’ve got to be better in that instance, especially going into this week.”
When Chicago takes on the Green Bay Packers, Bagent will make his second start of the season. Given the environment in Lambeau and the fact that Green Bay actually has a good pass defense, it will be important for Bagent to take advantage of every opportunity that comes his way.
However, he cannot make any critical mistakes. He had four interceptions against the Jets although only one counted because New York was penalized on the other three. The Bears will not get that lucky against the Packers if he makes those kinds of errors. Chicago is looking for their third straight win over the Packers and their first win against Green Bay in Lambeau since Ben Johnson became their head coach.
