The Chicago Bears are poised to once again be a contender in the NFC this season, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them make a move to bolster their roster ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.
The biggest concern that could hamper the Bears down the stretch is their defense, which has been ravaged by injuries in the backend and lacks a dominant defensive line. With several notable teams struggling through the first seven weeks of the season, there are poised to be some options to bolster the defensive line.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bears are one of two teams expected to be quite active during the trade deadline. Some of the names being floated around include defensive players like Arizona's Josh Sweat, Los Angeles'
Khalil Mack and Indianapolis' DeForest Buckner.
I think we’re heading toward a very active NFL trade deadline. We could see anywhere from 12 to 20 trades. And two teams I’m watching very closely — the 49ers and Bears. I’ve heard both teams connected to several defensive players, including rushers Josh Sweat, Khalil Mack, also DeForest Buckner, along with some names that aren’t necessarily on the trade block. I think both and Chicago and San Francisco want to be aggressive, and I’d be shocked if they don’t make a move before the deadline.
The Bears have been mentioned with Mack, Sweat and even Buckner recently or even before the start of the season. Mack is a former Bears player who was acquired via a trade with the Raiders back in 2018 while Sweat has been a popular edge rusher linked to Chicago. Then there's Buckner, who might be getting up there in age but would add a legitimate interior defender in the trenches alongside Grady Jarrett.
With roughly two weeks until the trade deadline, things are expected to heat up across the league, and it sounds like many expect the Bears to be a team to make a move to help get them back to the playoffs in 2026.
