The Chicago Bears made a blockbuster trade for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, sending a pair of first-round picks (along with a Day 3 pick swap), to acquire one of the league's best defenders.
In the last two seasons, Simmons, 29, has totaled 15 sacks as an interior defender, including a career-high 11 in 2025 and currently has four this season. Simmons is a three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler and has totaled 44.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 30 pass deflections in his career. He's arguably the best defensive tackle in the NFL, and it answers a huge need along the defensive interior for Dennis Allen's defense.
There have been plenty of reactions coming in after the Bears' big move for Simmons, including
wide receiver Luther Burden III, who issued a warning to the rest of the NFL: "Uh oh (laugh emoji)."

The Bears have one of the best offenses in the NFL, with third-year quarterback Caleb Williams and head coach Ben Johnson leading the charge, but defense has been the biggest concern for this team and their championship aspirations. The addition of Simmons immediately shores up the defense and gives defensive coordinator Dennis Allen a true game-wrecker on his defensive line.
This move indicates general manager Ryan Poles is all-in and believes the Bears can win a Super Bowl, and with Simmons under contract through 2030, Chicago is a contender for the foreseeable future beyond just 2026.
