Throughout the lead-in to the 2026 regular season, Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift has had plenty of hype surrounding him coming into his second year in Ben Johnson's offense.
Swift had a career year in 2025, rushing for 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 299 receiving yards and a score as part of one of the NFL's top offenses. While Swift was preserved through the 2026 preseason, he has turned heads of coaches, teammates, and media who have been around the team, and for the veteran himself, he's finding fun in his head coach's offense.
Swift recently discussed how he's finding enjoyment in the running attack that the Bears have, focusing on the variety of run plays that Johnson calls, as well as the revamped offensive line
that was put into place this year.
"First of all, the offensive line up front," Swift said. "Ben and how he sees the run game and the way he calls it, the detail in how plays are blocked, the angles, and how he calls it throughout the game. Plus, the variety of runs we have: wide zone, duo, counters, and a lot of different concepts. It’s just a great system to be a part of."
Quarterback Caleb Williams and the passing game is the main focus for the Bears offense this year, but after Chicago had the No. 3 rushing offense in the league last season, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Swift continue to excel as the lead back and perhaps match his production from a year ago.
