The Chicago Bears have officially named their starting left tackle for the 2026 season opener against the Carolina Panthers, and it's starting to feel a little like deja vu.
Head coach Ben Johnson announced that Braxton Jones will start at left tackle against the Panthers, which doesn't come as much of a surprise considering the left tackle competition didn't feature a standout besides Jones, who is simply the best option right now.
As for last year's standout left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, Johnson had an encouraging update on his rehab that could indicate we see last year's second-round pick sooner than expected.
"He's strong, he's flexible," Johnson said. "I don't want to put a timeline on it, but we are headed in the right direction."
