As roster cuts begin around the NFL and with the Chicago Bears, there are going to be players who don't make the cut but have put enough good film on tape that they deserve a spot.
Roster cuts always come with tough decisions but with those decisions come up opportunities for players to make a roster elsewhere depending on team needs across the league, and there have been plenty of players on the roster who have made impressions for themselves across the league.
Here's a look at five players who deserve a spot on the Bears roster but are unlikely to make final cuts for a variety of reasons.
OL Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie was on this same list last year, but made it through to the final roster. But, this year, the odds feel more stacked against him. Having started
training camp and the preseason getting reps at left tackle, Amegadjie struggled to break through the position battle and was moved back to a depth piece for right tackle. The fact that the coaches have moved Amegadjie around before the preseason feels like an indicator that he has officially fallen out of favor on the roster.
RB Salvon Ahmed
Running back Salvon Ahmed has done well in his action during training camp and the preseason, but his place on the roster will likely be bumped by the uprising play of Roschon Johnson. The Bears will undoubtedly be leaning on D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai in their backfield, so even Johnson's place in the running back room will be for insurance purposes while his opportunity of action will come on special teams.
LB Ruben Hyppolite
Ruben Hyppolite's roster spot is in jeopardy and he feels very similar to the roller coaster that has gone on with Kiran Amegadjie since being drafted by the Bears. Hyppolite was a fourth-round pick in last year's draft and struggled to find the field due to injuries early in his rookie season. With the team drafting Keyshaun Elliott this year, Hyppolite has not done anything to stand out during the preseason, and although Elliott just got healthy, he'll probably replace Hyppolite on the 53-man roster.
WR Scotty Miller
Scotty Miller was an interesting addition this offseason due to the need of veteran presence in the wide receiver room, but the coaching staff has been glowing about Kalif Raymond both on the field and in the locker room. Jahdae Walker has established himself as the team's most probable option as the fourth wide receiver with rookie Zavion Thomas also locking down a spot. With Kaden Davis' breakout summer, he's the favorite to land that final spot, leaving little to no room for Miller to break through and make the final cut.
DL James Lynch
The offensive and defensive line groups are two areas in which the Bears are going to keep as many players as possible, that make sense. This battle for a spot on the roster will likely come down to James Lynch and Kentavius Street, and in the first two games of the preseason, Street has grabbed more attention. There is a possibility in which both players could make it, if the team traded away Gervon Dexter. But for now, in a battle of one or the other, it's Street who makes the team, while Lynch should have plenty of suitors for his services.
